TOMEK MAKOWIECKI & "MAKOWIECKI BAND"

Tomek Makowiecki was brought at the back of the scenes (his parents: Bożena and Lech are the members of "Zayazd" band, well known in Poland. The father is the leader of the once popular "Babsztyl" band.. The boy, besides the talent in the genes - is also well educated in music (he graduated the musical school in the piano class). No wonder then, that at the age of 18 he won the most popular TV programme for young singers - "Szansa na sukces", and a year later - as the finalist of the Polish edition of "Idol" - he signed the contract for five records with the BMG. He also received the "Silver Otto" for the singer of the year, from "The Bravo".

The pieces from his first debut record of the "Makowiecki Band" "Spełni się" and "Miasto kobiet" were on the top of the most important hit lists in Poland (MTV Poland, Polsat, Polish Public TV); moreover, the teledisc of the rock version of the Kylie Minogue's standard "I Can't Get You Out of My Head" daringly interpreted by Tomek has been presented on the German VIVA Channel many times, as well as in Japanese stations.

"Makowiecki Band" took part in the premieres of the Opole Polish Song Festival, was invited to the "Top Trends" in Sopot, was the guest of the TV benefit performances of the greatest stars of the Polish stage, and took part in the prestige pro-Union concert "Songs of the United Europe" (in the Polish Public TV Channel 1).

Invited by a popular Japanese singer Miyazawa (The Boom band) Tomek took part in the concert on the occasion of "Earth Day 2005" in Tokyo, in the Budokan Hall, as the support of the world-stars. He sang for thousands of people in ... Japanese. The concert was broadcasted and televised by the Japanese media and resulted in the group recording of the festival anthem and the Shima Uta song - an international hit of Miyzawa.

"Makowiecki Band" performed with success prior to Avril Lavigne, collecting very favourable opinions of Canadian musicians - as the best support of the whole European tournee of the Star ...

Tomek's second record "Piosenki na nie" has been hailed the event of the year in the musical branch. The first single "Między nocą a dniem" is played by all radio stations and is hitting the top lists, and the title song "Piosenka na nie" was qualified to the "Bursztynowy Słowik" song contest at the Sopot Festival 2005.

Translations of all songs are underway, in order to release the disc in English.

In spite of classical musical education, (piano) Tomek Makowiecki plays electric and acoustic guitar; he is a song writer, a composer and makes the arrangements. Leader of the "Makowiecki Band" is also the co-producer of his records.

But what is most important, he sings so well that he has won many enthusiastic fans!

This, combined with his laid-back life style, sense of humour and his personal charm (he regularly appears in the rankings of "the most handsome, the most wanted Poles") makes him liked by the lovers of guitar rock.

Tomek does not get sidetracked - he gave up the main roles in the "Miss Saigon" and "Metro" musicals. He refused to play in films and commercials, he focuses exclusively on composing music. Maybe that is why the specialists expect him to have a long and successful career.
